Take your buddy
to dog parks and pet friendly hotels
People love their dogs. They want to
take them on little vacations and on rides and out in public to show
other people how cute their babies are! Many cities have dog parks and
pet friendly hotels. Increasingly, even some hairdressers and
workplaces are allowing the furry kids to come in with mom or dad.
While it's difficult to find many work sites with doggie day cares, dog
parks and pet friendly hotels are easy to find.
Some dog parks
allow you to let your dogs off their leashes so you can run around with
your canine pals. Others have strict leash laws. There are usually
signs when you enter to let you know the rules. If you are planning a
trip and are choosing between pet friendly hotels, pick the one with a
puppy park nearby.
There are some
common sense etiquette rules at dog parks. You should never take
aggressive dogs; your pup should know simple obedience commands; and you
should ALWAYS clean up after him. As for pet friendly hotels, be
courteous. If you crate train at home, bring along your cage. If there
are any doubts about potty training, your puppy should be crated
overnight, and you should bring along pee pads for easy clean-ups.
Dog parks and
pet friendly hotels are creating a society where we can share more than
just our homes with animals. The more respectful people (and pets) are
at places that allow dogs, the more places will allow them. Don't
assume everyone at the hotel will love Bowser slobbering on them, and
don't assume every other German Shepherd at the park is as friendly as
yours. Be polite, but have fun - I know your canine buddy will enjoy
it!
