CUJO
- for the Love of an Animal
While sitting at my
computer desk, I felt a gentle nudge at my chair's side. Brushing
against my leg, was one of my surrogate "kids" - Cujo. Cujo is a black
and tan Shepherd / Rottweiler mix with faithful eyes and an excellent
disposition. Well-trained and superb with children, Cujo has an
incredible animal magnetism and comical mannerism. Cujo loves to be the
center of attention, and is an undeniable "hugger & kisser." Always with
tennis ball nearby, Cujo literally lives to have his ball tossed and
retrieved. He has become so practiced with his tennis ball, that he can
now throw it back to you. Amazing! When he's not outside romping in the
backyard with my other animals, Cujo is always by my side. Still graced
with the lovable puppy face he had from his youth, Cujo is diligent in
his subtle communication & affectionate displays.
Each morning,
I stroll to my pc and begin to do my day's work. Within
seconds, Cujo is squishing his way through the wooden fish aquarium
stand and my swivel chair to settle beneath my desk by my feet.
Adoringly, he will plead with his eyes for "mom" to stroke his
underside. As I tick away at the keyboard, I manage to pet his head and
his belly. After a few moments, Cujo will have fallen fast asleep.
Now, gazing down upon
the floor, I see him. Peacefully, he slumbers
without the realization that each day, he reduces my blood pressure,
relaxes my spirit and embraces my heart & soul with his love. Yes, I am
an animal lover and believe that pets, in general, have the uncanny
ability to lower our heart rate and bring peaceful resolve into our
lives. The world, devoid of our furry counterparts, would be a sad place
to inhabit. Please remember that animals and pets alike, all have
emotions and feelings just like us. If we embrace all life with tender
care, our lives will be enriched for the better. Just a thought.
