Healthy dog
biscuits that complement your pet food
Using dog
biscuits to reward your dog for training progress is effective. If you
have put a lot of thought into making healthy choices for pet food, be
sure you don't sabotage his animal health with unhealthy dog biscuits.
There are plenty of choices available to reinforce the health of your
pet food.
Consider
vitamins as dog biscuits. Replacing one biscuit a day with a good
vitamin will benefit animal health. You can also give flavored
supplements that his pet food doesn't contain enough of - glucosamine
for a dog with hip problems, for example.
Cut up bite
sized pieces of carrots to use as dog biscuits. Unless carrots are a
known pet food allergen for your animal, they are usually a crunchy,
healthy reward.
Don't get fatty
dog biscuits. Unless you have a puppy or underweight animal, you might
try low-fat treats. Dogs usually get enough fat in pet food.
Break your dog
biscuits in half. Half a treat will till satisfy your dog, will save
money, and not add too many calories to his pet food diet.
Consider dog
biscuits made OF pet food. If you use kibble, you'll find it makes an
excellent training reward. Fill up your pocket for a session.
Check your dog
biscuits for preservatives. If you are already making healthy pet food
choices, don't use treats that are bad for his long-term animal health.
Find a dog treat that is naturally preserved, and check the ingredients
- avoid BHT, BHA, and ethoxyquin.
