Dog rescue and adoption - why animal
shelters deserve our support
Many dog rescue
and adoption organizations exist throughout the U.S. They provide an
invaluable service, not only as animal shelters for abandoned puppies
and dogs, but also through their spay and neuter efforts. If you love
animals, you should consider donating whatever money and/or time you can
spare to a dog rescue and adoption facility. Without these animal
shelters, many communities would be overrun with strays, most of whom
are starving to death or suffering horrible illnesses that are
completely preventable.
How to locate a dog rescue and
adoption organization near you; how to best help these animal shelters
through your donations
Locating a dog
rescue and adoption facility in your area isn't difficult. Often, it
just takes a call to the Humane Society or a big veterinarian office in
town. Both will usually have contacts at the animal shelters nearby.
Alternatively, you can use the phone book, although some facilities will
not be listed there.
Once you've
checked out a dog rescue and adoption organization or two in your
locale, and assuming you want to help them in some way, it comes down to
donating money or time (or both). You will discover that most animal
shelters are strapped for cash and volunteers to help them adopt out
their resident puppies and dogs.
Additionally,
some dog rescue and adoption facilities desperately need materials, such
as: bags of dry kibble, cans of wet food, water bowls, vitamins,
leashes, collars and harnesses, and so on. Sadly, animal shelters are
engaged in a never-ending battle to handle a constant flow of abandoned
and lost puppies and dogs.
If you have the
means, please consider helping a local dog rescue and adoption
organization. These animal shelters are sometimes the only hope for a
starving or sick puppy nobody wanted. Thank you!
