Dog training isn't just
for puppies. Find the pet supplies to help you achieve a well-behaved
best friend.
Helping dogs
become obedient family members can be a challenge. There are various
dog training techniques, as well as some helpful pet supplies for young
puppies and adult dogs. You CAN teach old dogs new tricks!
First, you should decide which dog training methods are right for you.
Most trainers now use only positive reinforcement, which makes the
sessions more fun for both the teacher and student. This is when you use
certain pet supplies (such as treats and clickers) to reward your friend
when he does what you are trying to teach him. There are books, videos,
and classes devoted to teaching the owner how to achieve results from
positive training. Puppies can start to learn good behavior as early as
7 weeks of age!
Dogs can learn how to behave properly around other animals and company,
where to relieve themselves, and even how to assist people with special
needs. Remember, dog training should be fun for the person AND the
trainee! Work in short sessions, be prepared for puppies with short
attention spans, and be consistent. Above all, remember that your pet wants
to please you more than anything else in the world. Reward him with lots
of love, praise, and maybe the occasional treat. Good luck!
