When staying in pet friendly hotels,
be sure to use a dog crate
Pet friendly
hotels offer a great service to all of us who love our dogs and want to
take them with us on trips. We should return the favor and use a dog
crate. You wouldn't dream of taking pets to a family member's or
friend's home and letting him run loose unless he was 100% housetrained,
right? Well, pet friendly hotels also have to pay for carpet cleaning
and other damage loose animals cause. Using a dog crate is not only
courteous, but it keeps prices down for everyone else.
Tips on staying at pet friendly hotels
- dog crate, favorite toys, lots of treats
When staying at
pet friendly hotels, there are a few tips to follow that will make your
visit much less stressful. Use a dog crate whenever you are out and
away from your pets. Your animal will probably be anxious enough being
away from home. If you give him a safe, familiar place to sit while
you're gone, he's less likely to cause a ruckus.
Most pet
friendly hotels do not provide any toys or other play items, so it's a
good idea to bring along some favorites. Toss them into the dog crate
when you go out. This will add to his sense of security and lower his
anxiety.
Pet friendly
hotels don't typically offer treats or food for dogs, either. So bring
along an appropriate amount of his favorite snacks. Again, put a few in
his dog crate to keep him preoccupied while you're away. They also can
be used to pacify him when you take him out to potty in a strange place.
