Using humane dog
training collars to stop barking dogs
Using dog
training collars can be an effective way to make barking dogs stop this
annoying behavior. However, care should be taken to pick only those dog
training collars that are safe and don't cause your pet any pain.
Better to have barking dogs than hurt ones.
Find dog training
collars that end nuisances like barking dogs, but don't make the lesson
painful!
Unfortunately, many pet stores sell dog training collars that shock the
animal. This is an outrage, in my opinion! Problems like barking dogs
are never justification for causing pets to experience pain. Imagine if
you'd been trained by your parents not to make noise by getting a jolt
of electricity.
A much more
humane choice in dog training collars is one that emits a quick and
harmless spray, like a citronella collar. With barking dogs, this is
ideal, because it simply distracts them from whatever is making them
bark. We've used these at our home with great success.
Other safe
and ethical dog training collars include those that put out a quick tone
or beep. Stopping barking dogs is only a matter of pulling their
attention away for a moment; this collar works like a charm. And the
tone is very short, so it doesn't become a noise nuisance itself.
