Adopt a dog from an animal rescue group!
It's a real
shame that more people don't adopt a dog from an animal rescue
organization. Having worked with these groups for years now, I have
seen way too many dogs live out their lives in a pen shared with several
animals. I've come to the conclusion that more people would adopt a dog
at an animal rescue shelter if they just stopped to think about it.
Reasons why you
should adopt a dog from a local animal rescue facility
If you're
going to adopt a dog anyway, don't you want a great pet AND the pride of
knowing you saved a life? Who wouldn't??? When the puppy you bring
home to live with your family has come from an animal rescue group,
you've truly made a difference.
Deciding to
adopt a dog at an animal rescue site opens up a spot for another poor
pooch who will probably be put down otherwise. Unfortunately, it's a
numbers game. The more dogs adopted from rescues, the fewer horrible
starvation and disease deaths will occur in the canine population.
Finally,
when you adopt a dog from an animal rescue organization, 99% of the time
you take home a pet that has been spayed or neutered by the group. It's
estimated that if just half of all pets were in America were "fixed,"
the population problem would end within a few years.
