Try organic dog food for healthier
puppies and dogs
Organic dog food is a good choice for
an all-natural diet for your puppies or dogs. They didn't evolve eating
artificial preservatives and other synthetic stuff, right? It stands to
reason that organic dog food is often much closer to what puppies and
dogs ate for millions of years in the wild.
The benefits of feeding organic dog
food to your puppies and dogs
Organic dog food only contains natural
ingredients. Things like corn, chicken, wheat, and meat fat. It seeks
to mimic the nutrition puppies and dogs absorbed during their wild days,
before human domestication.
As such, organic dog food does not
cause or promote many of the more common ailments and diseases that
puppies and dogs who eat popular commercial brands of kibble get.
Stomach problems due to poor digestibility, and skin conditions from
some of the preservatives in other foods are prevented.
While organic dog food often costs
considerably more than other kinds, over the long run you'll actually
save money. This is because puppies and dogs eating a natural diet
suffer fewer health problems that require intervention by a
veterinarian.
It's a good idea when picking an
organic dog food brand to look at the ingredients list on the back of
the bag. Always ask your veterinarian for his opinion about it. My own
preference is for natural foods that emphasize meats. Look for chicken
or beef as the first ingredient. This is what puppies and dogs
naturally crave, because raw meat was their staple while evolving.
Be careful how you
store bags of organic dog food. Because they lack the artificial
preservatives that most brands contain, they can rot quickly. Feeding
puppies and dogs rotten kibble kind of defeats your desire to make them
healthy! Keep in a cool, dry place (in airtight baggies is best).
